Following the Government announcement this evening, we have decided to close the Church until further notice. We have not taken this decision lightly, but we feel we must follow governmental advice to minimise the spread of Covid-19.
This applies to all meetings and events, including Sunday services.
We pray that all of us will stay safe and well. We are aware that Sunday services are very important to all of us, not only as an act of worship, but also as a social event where we can socialise, meet (and make) friends. We do need to keep in contact with each other and look after those who live alone. We will be setting up a virtual pastoral contact system this week, and we are also investigating how to produce an online Sunday Service. Please follow the website for more details during the next few weeks. https://stpetersmethodist.org.uk/
But also remember a telephone call, email or letter can be a great comfort to anyone who is isolated - whether they are ill or not.
As more details come out from the Government, we will be reviewing our policies, and as soon as possible we will start worshipping together again.
A prayer for us all to use at this difficult time.
Merciful God, in this time of challenge we pray your blessing and healing upon all, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society and those who are unable to reach their families. Even as we keep social distance may we find ways to reduce isolation and continue to remember Christ’s command to love all our neighbours.
In his name we pray. Amen.
